SEOUL, Feb. 27 (Yonhap) -- “EPICENTER,” directed by Hahm Hee-yoon who is a member of the Film Institute of Korea National University of Arts, has been bestowed the Bruce Corwin Award as the Best Animated Short Film at the 38th Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF).
The film was brought to life only with pencil strokes and tells the story of an earthquake occurring in Bukhansan Mountain, South Korea. The short animated film has won eligibility for the next year’s Academy Award (Oscars) with this Award at Santa Barbara.
SBIFF has been held annually over the past 37 years since 1986 in the coastal tourist city of Santa Barbara, California, United States. By attracting more than 100,000 attendees and offering 11 days of more than 200 films, tributes, and symposiums, SBIFF has become one of the leading film festivals in the U.S.
