SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Yonhap) - "I think I'm ultimately writing songs that comfort people and make them feel good."
Norwegian singer-songwriter Peder Elias, who is well-known in Korea for his song "Loving You Girl," visited Korea to collaborate with the group SEVENTEEN's unit BSS.
Elias has met with reporters in Mapo-gu, Seoul on Monday and told them about his love for the music world and Korean fans.
Impressive with his refreshing voice, he has received great love in Korea for his songs "Loving You Girl" and "Bonfire."
Elias' album "Love & Loneliness," released in April last year, has been streamed more than 160 million times on domestic music sites.
He appeared as the first overseas artist of the program on KBS 1TV's "National Singing Contest Korea Sings," which aired on January 15 this year, and made headlines by saying in Korean, "It's great to be on the National Singing Contest."
Elias recalled, "When I arrived in Gwangju and as I moved to the filming site I asked the taxi driver, 'What would be fun to say in Jeolla-do's language?' and "I came to use it because he said the audience would like it if I said, 'It's awesome.'"
He featured in "7PM," which was included in BSS’s "SECOND WIND" released on the 6th of this month.
As he performed with BSS on Mnet's "M Countdown" and SBS' "Inkigayo" together, he said, "BSS is very energetic, humble, and fun friends."
When asked why many overseas artists are looking for K-pop artists, he replied, "It's because K-pop has become a genre that has become very popular around the world."
"When American singers and K-pop singers collaborate, many people collaborate with K-pop singers because different cultures meet and create interesting harmony."
The 13-year-old Norwegian boy, who first dreamed of becoming a singer while listening to Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and Adele, has grown into a singer who can comfort people with his inner story.
In November last year, he released "Tell A Son," which confessed his childhood hurt by his parents' divorce, and comforted those who suffered the same pain as him.
Elias said, "It's a song that deals with a more intimate and personal story," and explained, "The song contains all the emotions I actually experienced and felt in my childhood."
He, who will release his new song "Paper Plane" on the 24th of next month, smiled broadly, saying in Korean, "I love Korean fans so much."
