SEOUL, Apr. 6 (Yonhap) -- K-pop supergroup BTS’ Suga has been named the global ambassador for the National Basketball Association (NBA).
The professional basketball league brought the news to its social space with an interview video of Suga on Thursday afternoon.
“As a person who loved basketball since a kid, I am truly honored to be the global ambassador for the NBA,” the multi-faceted singer said in the video. “I will make sure to show and share everything about the NBA.”
The superstar has long been known as a basketball fan. In an interview released in 2021, Suga picked Damien Lillard as his favorite player, saying his recent interest was the Portland Trail Blazers. After the interview was published, Lillard wrote a thank-you post on his social space.
The idol was spotted watching the practice match of the 2023-2023 NBA Season in Saitama, Japan, on the first row of the stands. He then met the NBA star Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
