SLL to reveal fantasy drama “Monstrous” starring Koo Kyo-hwan·Shin Hyun-bin

SEOUL, April 19 (Yonhap) -- JTBC Studio, which revealed its ambitions to become a global content studio with the new name SLL, said it will release more than 30 movies and dramas including series for BBC Studios this year.

The Korean TV drama production studio revealed that it will invest 3 trillion won into content creation over the next 3 years.

SLL held a media event “Let’s LuluLala” at Dongdaemun Digital Plaza, Seoul, today, and released a lineup of 30 dramas and 5 movies.

The lineup consists of 28 dramas and films when excluding the works that have been already released, including JTBC’s “Thirty-Nine,” “Forecasting Love and Weather,” and Netflix’s “All Of Us Are Dead.”

The studio’s works that will be aired overseas stood out the most.

SLL, which announced its entry into the US market with the acquisition of wiip, is set to create and air dramas including the BBC sitcom “Toast of Tinseltown” which portrays the famous actor Steven Toast and his debut in LA, and the HBO drama “The White House Plumbers” a real story of E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy, behind the Watergate scandal.

Moreover, the series “Pistol,” which portrays the birth of the English band “Sex Pistols,” will air on FX, and teen romance “The Summer I Turned pretty” will also be revealed on Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video.

JTBC Studio plans to show multiple series on global streaming services such as Netflix and Disney Plus.

The most promising series include “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area,” which is the remake of Netflix Spain’s original drama “Money Heist,” “The Accidental Narco,” which stars Ha Jung-woo·Hwang Jung-min·Yoo Yeon-seok, and Disney+’s original series “Casino,” which is actor Choi Min-sik’s first drama in 24 years.

There is interest in whether SLL, which created “All Of Us Are Dead” and “Hellbound,” will create another global hit series.


The upcoming Korean dramas also boast a strong lineup.

In the Korean streaming service TVING, ’“Monstrous," starring Koo Kyo-hwan·Shin Hyun-bin, and “Rose Mansion” (translated), starring Yoon Kye-sang·Lim Jiyeon will be revealed.

 

A fantasy drama "The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate," starring Song Joong-ki, and “Insider,” starring Kang Han-neul will be available on JTBC.

Moreover, “The Empire of Law” (translated) starring Kim Sun-ah·Lee Mi-sook·Ahn Jae-woo, and “Interest of Love” starring Yoo Yeon-seok and Moon Ga-young will also be released. 

Five movies including “Cobweb” (translated title), “JUNG_E,” “Apgujeong Report,” “The Roundup,” and “Soulmate” will hit theaters.
