SEOUL, Sep. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korea will supply for the organizing utilizing and documenting project of the Gandhara ruins left in the North of Pakistan.
The Cultural Heritage Administration signed an ODA (Official Development Assistance) of cultural assets containing the words above with Pakistan officials of the National Heritage & Culture Division on the 21st, the Korean Administration announced Tuesday.
According to the agreement, Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation will invest 4.8 billion won in total from this year to 2025 to organize the Gandhara ruins within Peshwar with an archaeology museum of the National Heritage & Culture Division and to construct a tourist attractions’ infrastructure.
Also, they will investigate the site, make a list of the relics, build a preservation center, and will educate experts for preservation treatments. Using Information and Communication Technology they will create a database by gathering plots·ancient documents·photos and make a digital exhibition hall.
Gandhara is an old name of Peshwar. From BC 2C to AC 5C, the region developed a unique style of art, a fusion Buddhism and Ancient Greece. Gandhara art is known to express a figure’s appearance realistically and sensuously.
