SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) -- Boryeong city in South Chungcheong province announced that Boryeong mud festival, which was held online for the last two years, will be held normally this year.

Boryeong mud festival, which marks its 25th anniversary this year, will significantly increase the festival period from the previous 10 days to 31 days, and will be held in the area of Daecheon beach starting from July 16 to August 15 at the same time as Boryeong Sea Mud exhibition.

It is expected to be the festival full of diverse entertaining programs, including 38 programs such as mud experience zone, beach stage performance, and the Sea Mud exhibition.

The mud experience zone will be composed of theme park where a large number of people can enjoy mud at the same time.

Beside the mud experience zone, various events will be held in a permanent stage such as “The World Best Bbuljit (‘Bbul’ has meanings of ‘mud’ as well as ‘stupid’ and ‘jit’ means ‘behavior,’ which makes ‘Bbuljit’ mean ‘stupid behavior.’) Competition.” Also, celebration performance, K-Pop concert, and EDM concert will be held at the beach stage.

On August 13, a global extreme sports “Tough Mudder Competition” will be held for the first time in Korea at the area around Woongcheon sports park, providing lots of fun to tourists.

The mayor Kim Dong-il said, “We decided to hold mud festival at the same time for the successful opening of Sea Mud Exhibition, the first global event related to sea in west coast,” adding, “Please come and enjoy the fun festival and mud fair.”
