SEOUL, Sep. 30 (Yonhap) -- UNESCO World Heritage Gongsanseong Fortress in Gongju South Chungcheong Province has met with new media art technology to present a time travel to 1,500 years before kingdom, Baekje.
“Baekje Yonhwa” (translated), the Gongsanseong Fortress media art project to be co-held by the Cultural Heritage Administration and Gongju City, has started on the 24th to match with Baekje Cultural Festival (9.25~10.3) and will continue until Oct. 24, according to an official from the city Thursday.
Media art has been decorated into a banquet hall celebrating King Muryeong’s having sent an envoy to Liang Dynasty in China in 521 to announce that Baekje has knocked down Goguryeo several times and has regained its power once more.
Media Facades using the excavated relics and patterns from Gongsanseog Fortress and ‘Tomb of King Muryeong’ add beautiful colors to Geumseoru Pavilion of the fortress every evening.
At the entrance of the pavilion a map of the time-slip project to Baekje and a garden laser show are prepared to guide the visitors to the kingdom that existed 1,500 years ago.
Also, LED media tower and a huge LED ball of light are set up at the village inside the fortress to present the high status and excellence of the cultures of Baekje Kingdom which actively interacted with other kingdoms.
20 meter long and 3 meter high “anamorphic hologram wide screen” will be installed for the first time in Korea at Gongbukru Pavilion to catch the eyes of the visitors with various performances and contents.
Every Friday and Saturday, a regular performance, “Baekje Yonhwamu” takes place twice a day at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. here. After Baekje Cultural Festival, reservations in advance are available on their website, gongsanseong.kr.
