SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- Animations featuring famous characters will be released in off-season after Chuseok holiday.

"Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroes," to be released on Sept. 14, is the story of Piccolo andSun Wukong, who tries to stop the Red Ribbon Army, which was annihilated by Son Wukong, from attacking Earth gain.

Dragon Ball, debutted as a comic book in 1984, has been made into numerous books and animations, and the popularity of Dragon Ball goes beyond Asia. Upon its release in North America on Aug. 19, it topped the box office, outrunning "Bullet Train" and "Top Gun: Maverick."

'New Evangelion Theatrical Version', the fourth part of the Evangelion New Theatrical Version series, will meet Korean audiences next month. The pilots of Nerf and Ville appear to put an end to the new theatrical version series.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is an animation that first appeared as a TV series in 1995. Director Anno Hideaki has been making a new theatrical version with a reboot character since 2007. "New Neon Genesis Evangelion Theatrical Version" topped the Japanese box office for five weeks in a row and won the Best Animated Picture at the Japan Academy Awards.

Another legendary animation "Galaxy Express 999" will meet Korean audiences with clearer picture quality. The movie, which will be released on Oct. 15, is a restored version of the 1979 animation in 4K digital quality.

Galaxy Express 999 is an adventure story of Tetsrou, who lost his mother to the Count Machine, and leaves on the super express No. 999 with the mysterious woman Mattel, dreaming of revenge. The theatrical version of the TV series was the first animated film to top the Japanese box office.

"Crayon Shin-chan: Shrouded in Mystery! The Flowers of Tenkazu Academy" to be released on Sept. 28 is the 29th theaterical version.

The story folds as Shin-chan and his friends goto the Flowers of Tenkazu Academy, an elite training school. His party digs into the truth of the mysterious "Heub-dung-ki" and takes on the challenge as the first mystery genre movie about academy.
