Kian84 Returns with MBC's reality show 'Music Adventure by Accident'

SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Yonhap) -- Kian84, the popular webtoon artist and television personality, known for the MBC series The World Tour Born to Be (Taegyeiljoo), is back with a new show titled Music Adventure by Accident (Umakiljoo), set to premiere this weekend. 

During a press conference on the 16th at MBC's Golden Mouse Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul, Kian84 announced that he will donate the proceeds from the show's soundtrack.

"I wrote the lyrics myself, so I might receive some royalties. But it feels wrong to keep the earnings from a program like this. I'll donate the proceeds or use them for a good cause," Kian84 said, emphasizing his intention to give back.

The Music Journey is a spin-off of The World Tour Born to Be, which won Kian84 the Grand Prize at the MBC Entertainment Awards. The new show follows Kian84 as he pursues his long-held dream of becoming a singer, a goal on his personal bucket list.

Reflecting on the new venture, Kian84 said, "We've done three seasons of The World Tour Born to Be, and I thought jumping straight into a fourth season might lead to burnout. With so many travel shows out there, we wanted to create something different. I'm excited and hopeful that this will be a fun experience."

The Music Journey chronicles Kian84's travels in the United States, where he also plans to release music created during the trip. When asked about his expectations for the soundtrack's success, Kian84 humorously remarked, "People often make promises when releasing something like this, but that usually leads to disappointing results."

Joining Kian84 on this journey are travel creator Pani Bottle, who appeared in The World Tour Born to Be, and actor Teo Yoo, a new addition to the team. Director Kim Ji-woo explained that Teo Yoo was chosen because, despite not being a music expert, he could genuinely inspire Kian84. "He became so immersed in the experience that he said the trip changed his life," Kim added.

Teo Yoo shared his thoughts on joining the show, saying, "I was worried that I might seem like I'm just jumping on a successful program. As an actor, it's getting harder to do things spontaneously, so this kind of impromptu travel was something I wanted to do."

The Music Journey will air every Sunday at 9:10 PM, starting on August 18th.
