TWS Wins 2 Awards at MAMA Awards; J.Y. Park Also Takes Award Home

SEOUL, Nov. 22 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy group TWS took home two honors at the MAMA Awards, an annual music awards ceremony hosted by cable channel Mnet.

 

At the "MAMA Awards US," held on November 21 (local time) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, TWS won Best Male Rookie and Best Dance Performance – Male Group.

 

In their acceptance speech for the rookie award, TWS expressed, "We've always run hard with the motto, 'Let’s be better today than we were yesterday,' and we’ll continue to do so. It's an incredible honor to receive the rookie award at such a prestigious event like the MAMA Awards."

 

J.Y. Park, celebrating his 30th year in the industry, received the Inspiring Achievement award, an accolade recognizing lifetime contributions. He performed his latest single "Easy Lover" accompanied by pop star Anderson .Paak on drums.

 

In his acceptance speech, J.Y. Park said, "I want to inspire and uplift the younger generation, and I’m grateful to receive an award that reflects this sentiment."

 

Other winners included ILLIT for Best Female Rookie and RIIZE for Favorite Global Male Performer.

 

This year marks the first time in its 25-year history that the MAMA Awards held a ceremony in the United States.

 

Winners in the four grand prize categories will be announced at the "MAMA Awards Japan," taking place on November 22–23 at Kyocera Dome, Osaka.

 

The first day’s performances, starting at 4 PM, will feature collaborative acts such as Rose and Bruno Mars, alongside ENHYPEN, IVE, and TXT.

 

On the second day, starting at 1 PM, performances will include G-Dragon, aespa, and (G)I-DLE, among others.
