SEOUL, August 10 (Yonhap) -- Story of the husband who steels a bag full of money next to a dead body impulsively, “A Model Family” will premiere on August 12.
Director Kim Jin-woo introduced “A Model Family” as “Externally they might look like a model family but the reality is quite the opposite.” During the press conference held at the JW Marriott hotel in Jongno district in Seoul.
Director continued on by stating “Audience will think about what the real model family is once they watch the movie where it shows different family members plowing thorugh their hardships.”
South Korean Netflix drama “A Model Family” is about a head of the family of a normal household becoming a drug trafficking method after running off with money from the wrong person.
S.Korean actor Jung Woo acts out a father figure of 2 kids Dong-ha and Actress Yoon Jin-seo acts out the wife of Dong-ha, Eun-joo who is sick and tired of him.
“I worked with a character that I have never tried out before” adding “I usually act out a normal citizen, however, through ‘A Model Family’ I was able to tap into the latent side of the character which lead Dong-ha to slowly transform in to a monster.” announced Jung Woo during the interview.
Jung Woo continued on by stating “Dong-ha runs into extreme situations where he digs a hole, buries a dead body, gets chased like a mad man and more, there were some times where I thought my internal organs were melting due to harsh scenes.”
Actress Yoon Jin-seo who acted out the wife of Dong-ha, character which Jung-woo acted out throughout the drama stated, “None of the characters including Dong-ha and Eun-joo feels empathy or sympathy for one another.” adding “pay attention to how self-centered characters continue on with their relationships.“
Throughout the drama “A Model Family” more couples other than Dong-ha appears, and the confrontational situation in between them to make the best possible decision for the family continues.
Gwang-cheol who thought of the drug cartel as his real family starts to prepare to betray the cartel after finding out that he will get kicked out from the group, leader of the drug investigation team Joo-hyun starts to keep her eyes on Gwang-cheol in order to find the truth of her closest team member’s death.
Actor Park Hee-soon who acts out the role of Gwang-cheol, gave a brief description of his character during the interview “Gwang-cheol is a character with a hankering for family because he didn’t have one growing up.” adding “I wanted to portray the lonesomeness and emptiness in a dry way.”
“When I was notified that I got the role I had felt pain in my chest because I was so happy.” adding “I was so excited to play a role that I have not tried.” announced actress Park Ji-yeon during the interview.
She continued on by stating “Overall the drama will not be as dark and in a serious atmosphere, it contains humorous scenes and laughable points.” adding “Laughing while watching a tragic film might look very cruel but it makes you think once more.”
