SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Yonhap) -- "I find it exciting as an artist to work across diverse fields. That’s why I thought incorporating various genres into an album would suit me as a singer," said Kyuhyun of K-pop boy group Super Junior, spurring to expand his career into solo music, musicals, and variety shows.

Kyuhyun introduced his first full-length solo album "COLORS" at a listening session held on Wednesday at CGV Cheongdam Cinecity’s MCube in Seoul.

Describing the album as a "prismatic spectrum of diverse hues," he invited listeners to experience it "as if watching a single, cohesive performance."

COLORS marks Kyuhyun's first full-length album since his solo debut in 2014. The album features 10 tracks, including the title song "To the End of Each Day," a heartfelt ballad layered with band sounds that delves into the lingering pain of a breakup. Other tracks showcase various styles, such as the dramatic, musical-inspired "A Sad Night" and the upbeat dance track "Bring It On," which includes a rap section—a first for Kyuhyun.

"I’ve included rap in performances to entertain the audience, so I thought, why not in a song?" he remarked, laughingly adding, "I can barely stand to listen to my own rap, so I’m curious how others will react."

During the session, Kyuhyun performed his self-composed song "One Spring Day," accompanied by a live piano. His soft vocals in the beginning transitioned into powerful high notes, vividly expressing yearning for a lost love.

"I wrote this song about five or six years ago during a trip, and I’m grateful it’s finally being released," he shared. Originally titled "Malibu Ballad," Kyuhyun revealed he changed the name to avoid giving it a cheerful impression.

As 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of his solo debut, Kyuhyun said he wanted to commemorate the milestone meaningfully, which motivated the album's creation. "I initially wasn’t keen on the idea of a full-length album, but working on it made me realize how special it feels. I hope to release more albums in this format if possible," he said, teasing ongoing discussions about a new album with his agency, Antenna.

Kyuhyun reflected on his solo debut with the mini-album At Gwanghwamun as one of his most memorable moments. "I prepared it amid countless worries and even thought it might be my last project as a singer. Thanks to my former agency, SM Entertainment, I’ve reached this 10-year milestone," he said.

Rather than focusing on chart performance, Kyuhyun emphasized his goal of consistently sharing his music with fans. Beginning December 20–22 at Seoul Olympic Park’s Olympic Hall, he will embark on an Asia tour and is set to star in the musical The Man Who Laughs next year.

Contrary to concerns about overexertion, Kyuhyun dismissed notions of physical strain. "Whether I’m immersed in a musical or trying to make people laugh on variety shows, I focus on the moment. I know I haven’t mastered a single field, but I want to continue living as an artist who quietly yet meaningfully traverses multiple genres," he said.)
