SEOUL, March 20 (Yonhap) -- BLACKPINK’s music video for “Lovesick Girls”, the title track from their first full-length album, has surpassed 800 million views on YouTube, YG Entertainment announced on Thursday.

The video crossed the 800 million view milestone at 1:31 p.m. on the same day, reaching the feat 1,630 days after its release on October 2, 2020.

“Lovesick Girls” is characterized by a country-style guitar sound combined with a poignant melody and the group’s powerful vocals. Group member Jennie contributed to both writing and composing the track, while Jisoo participated in the lyrics.

Upon its release, the song charted at No. 59 on the Billboard Hot 100, while its album, “THE ALBUM”, peaked at No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart Top 100.

This marks the 13th BLACKPINK music video to exceed 800 million views, following hits like “DDU-DU DDU-DU” (2.2 billion views). The group now has 48 videos surpassing 100 million views, further solidifying their status as global icons. Additionally, BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel boasts over 96.1 million subscribers, making them the most-followed musical act on the platform.

Looking ahead, BLACKPINK is set to embark on a new world tour starting on July 5-6 at Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium. The tour will cover four cities in North America, four cities in Europe, and Japan, with plans to expand further.
