SEOUL, June 24 (Yonhap) -- AllDay Project, a K-pop rookie group that came under limelight for its member Annie (real name Moon Seo-yoon), the eldest daughter of Shinsegae Inc. chair Chung Yoo-kyung, ranked high on the music charts upon their debut.
According to music platform Melon on Tuesday, AllDay Project’s song "FAMOUS" entered the Melon "Top 100" chart at No. 10 at 11 p.m. the previous day—just five hours after its release. By the morning of the 24th, it had climbed to No. 9.
On the "Hot 100" chart, which tracks the performance of new releases, the song had topped the list earlier that morning before dropping to second place.
AllDay Project is the second group introduced by producer Teddy—who has produced for top K-pop acts like BIGBANG and BLACKPINK—following Miyao. The group consists of five members: Annie, Tarzan, Bailey, Woochan, and Youngseo.
They made their official debut in the K-pop scene the previous day with the release of the single "FAMOUS," which includes the title track of the same name and "WICKED" as double title songs.
"FAMOUS" is characterized by a heavy synthesizer bass and guitar performance, complemented by fast-paced rap and melody. "WICKED" combines elements from Brazilian funk, trap, and R&B, paired with distinctive rap verses.
Experts have noted that AllDay Project is gaining traction with fans thanks to its trendy, stylish music and the unique concept of being a mixed-gender group.
Pop music critic Jeong Min-jae commented, "They have the distinct appeal of being a co-ed group, in addition to producer Teddy’s strengths in hip-hop and pop dance genres. Each member presents a sophisticated, urban image, and it’s a team worth anticipating for their chemistry."
Critic Lim Hee-yoon added, "As K-pop continues to diversify—with groups made up of foreign members or even trot idol groups—the boundaries are expanding. In a saturated market, entertainment agencies seem to be exploring 'blue oceans' through new and unique group formats."
