SEOUL, May 2 (Yonhap) -- The big musical "Aida" will kick off on May 10th.

“Aida” will be held from May 10th to August 7th, at Shinhan Card Hall, Blue Square, Seoul, according to the Seensee Company, Monday.

The musical depicts a love triangle between Aida, the princess of Nubia who works as a slave, Amneris, the daughter of Pharaoh, and Radames, an Egyptian military commander who gives up everything for love.

Since its premiere in 2005, the musical has attracted 920,000 cumulative viewers with 856 performances in five seasons.

Aida will be played by Yoon Gong-joo, Jeon Na-young, members of the previous season, and Kim Soo-ha, who is new to the cast. Kim Woo-hyung and Choi Jae-rim will star as Radames, while Ivy and Min Kyoung-ah will play Amneris.

This year’s performance will be opened when COVID-19 is seemed to be moving from a pandemic to an endemic, and also when the outdoor mask regulations are being lifted.

The show was planned to open in Busan, from March to April of 2020, after the fifth season in Blue Square hall, which was held from Nov. 2019 to Feb. 2020 but was canceled due to COVID-19.
