SEOUL, Dec. 20 (Yonhap) -- Mercedes-Benz Arena, one of the largest concert area in the capital of Germany, Berlin, was filled with earsplitting noise of the fans when k-pop super group Blackpink performed on Tuesday.
Fans who entered after lining up for more than two hours at sub-zero weather filled up the 17,000 seats, and for every stage, they screamed and sang along songs in Korea. Darkened auditorium was filled with pink hearts held by the fans.
Blackpink kicked off the concert with "How you like that," and performed about 10 songs including "Kill this love," "Lovesick girls," and "Pink Venom." Jisoo, Jennie, Rose, and Lisa then each performed solo, and performed four more songs together including "Shut down" and "DDU-DU DDU-DU."
Blackpink left the stage after singing "Forever Young," but they came back on after hearing the endless screams by the fans and performed 3 more songs including "As If It's Your Last."
Beginning European tour in London late last month, Blackpink will end the world tour in Amsterdam on Thursday after finishing concerts in Berlin,Barcelona, Cologne, Paris, and Copenhagen. The group met with 1.5 million fans after performing 19 concerts in 14 different cities in North America and Europe.
Young fans in their teens accompanied by their parents singing along all songs in Korean stood out.
Young fans including Elina, Emma, Alba, Alia aged 9 to 12 who came to their first ever concert with sisters and friends said, "We like everything about Blackpink" and sang along all the songs loudly in Korean which they have learned from school club."
College students who just turned 20, Aesin, Maria, and Baha are also fans of Blackpink since their teens. Becoming fans of the group altogether 5 years ago, they said, "Blackpink is more like a girl-crush style rather than cute style like many other girl groups," adding, "We hope to receive lots of energy today through the concert."
They, who became a fan of K-pop after watching Korean drama and animation, said, "It is more culturally comfortable to watch Korean dramas than Western dramas," adding, "I think this is because the way how Koreans respect each other." The fans also mentioned that they have spent two weeks in Korea last Summer.
Carella, 16, who visited the venue with her aunt, said, "I like that blackpink is composed of four strong women," adding, "I became fan of K-pop during the COVID-19 pandemic, and I became fascinated by the group's dance choreography and high quality music videos."
Her aunt said, "Because she just turned 16, I gave her the concert ticket as her birthday and Christmas present," adding, "The whole process of waiting after pre-register and getting the ticket with a click was like asking for the moon."
Although the tickets for assigned seats went from 249 Euro to 349 Euro, almost all the seats were filled, and the fans who were waiting in a long line all said in unison that it was hard to get the tickets.
