SEOUL, Mar. 24 (Yonhap) -- "As it is an album that means that I faced true myself, I melted my sincere feelings and image that I didn't bring up anywhere."
Jimin of the group BTS introduced in a YouTube video released to commemorate the release of his first solo album "FACE" on Friday, saying, "Facing emptiness, loneliness, and wandering, I have the will and strength to prepare for a new start."
"Face" is his first official solo album in 10 years since his debut. It contains a total of six songs, including the title song "Like Crazy" and the pre-released song "Set Me Free Pt.2".
Jimin expressed his sincere feelings during the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years in this album. In particular, the fourth track "Alone" has this atmosphere.
"I melted a lot of lonely and empty feelings I felt while working during the pandemic into the song. This song contains a lot of fears and worries that I felt during my lethargic days, and it was hard to get into the emotions when I recorded it."
"Everything was a new challenge," he said adding, "We prepared with the heart that many people expected from BTS Jimin and unexpected new sides."
"Face" also means face or face-to-face,” he said. "This album also came to name 'Face' to mean that I faced myself while I had time to face myself completely."
The album jacket is designed with concentric circles that seem to spread waves.
Jimin pointed out, "The deep inside changes like a big and small ripple," adding, "In that sense, it also means delivering an album containing my inner self with my own voice."
The title song "Like Crazy" is a synth-pop genre with an easy and cheerful melody. He said he was inspired by the movie of the same name.
Jimin said, "It's a song that expresses the emotion of the moment when I turn a blind eye to reality to forget the wound," adding, "I paid a lot of attention to the emotional line when I sang to convey the sorrow of the lyrics." "Please enjoy watching it," he said.
"I prepared a lot of choreography and performances thinking that there will be a performance that many people expect from me," he said. "Set Me Free Pt.2" melted a lot of grand, powerful, and tough sides, and "Like Crazy" is flexible and delicate."
"I think this album is another start for me as a musician or a singer. I hope it will be a meaningful album that ARMY (BTS fans) can relate to."
