SEOUL February 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean movie theaters are expected to feature the competition between Japanese animation film “The First Slam Dunk” and 4K 3D version of “Titanic" which provides audiences with great nostalgia.

According to the data provided by the integrated network of movie tickets by the Korean Film Council on Friday, “The First Slam Dunk” exceeded over 2.53 million accumulated audiences until Thursday. The movie managed to top the South Korean box office on January 27 after being released on January 4 and continued to guard its place on top for 14 consecutive days.

On the opposing side is, 4K 3D re-mastered version “Titanic: 25th Anniversary.”

The movie “Titanic: 25th Anniversary” which premiered on to the screen on February 8 has successfully attracted over 500 thousand accumulated audiences chasing closely after “The First Slam Dunk” within the S.Korean box office.

According to CGV’s “Egge Index” the movie “Titanic: 25th Anniversary” has received 99% and 9.8 on the Lotte Cinema audience review system which provides the movie with the potential possibility of being able to take over the movie “The First Slam Dunk.”

Third on the S.Korean box office is “Avatar: The Way of Water” which has managed to exceed accumulated audience of 10 million audiences. Two of director James Cameron’s movie has been listed within the S.Korean box office.

South Korean action movie “The Point Men” featuring Hyun Bin and Hwang Jung-min has successfully landed on the fourth of the box office. “The Point Men” is the only South Korean movie to have been placed within the box office. Due to continued premiere of nostalgic films and various foreign movies, South Korean movies are struggling to take the upper hand. Following fourth on the list, Taiwanese romance movie “Someday or One Day” was ranked fifth within the box office.
