SEOUL, March 12 (Yonhap) -- Blackpink has successfully wrapped up promotional events in China and Japan celebrating the release of its third EP, "DEADLINE," its agency said Thursday.

According to YG Entertainment, the group collaborated with Tencent Music Entertainment Group to hold promotional events for the album across 20 cities in China.

The campaign marked the largest offline promotion ever organized by Tencent Music Entertainment and featured various events in 20 cities beginning on Feb. 27, the album’s release date.

Major landmarks in cities such as Ningbo, Macao and Shenzhen were illuminated in pink — Blackpink’s signature color — while major shopping malls in Beijing and Shanghai were decorated with the album’s concept.

Pop-up stores held in five cities also drew large crowds.

Promotions in Japan also received an enthusiastic response. A pop-up store held in Tokyo’s Shibuya district attracted long lines of fans waiting before opening, while billboard events and promotions with major record labels offered a variety of activities for visitors.

Blackpink’s third EP sold 1,774,577 copies in its first week of release, setting a new record for a K-pop girl group, according to Hanteo Chart.

The album also ranked high on major charts including the Official Charts Company in the United Kingdom and the Billboard in the United States.
