SEOUL, April 21 (Yonhap) -- Han Ji-hyun and Bae In-hyuk have been cast in the new show “Cheer Up,” an SBS campus series that will be aired for the first time in 23 years since the drama “KAIST.”
Han Ji-hyun, Bae In-hyuk, Kim Hyun-jin, Jang Gyu-ri, Lee Eun-saem, and Yang Dong-geun will star in the new series which will air later this year, according to SBS, Thursday.
“Cheer Up” is a mystery rom-com series that depicts the campus life around students who come together in a once-leading university cheering squad.
Director Han Tae-seob, who co-produced the series “Hot Stove League” will collaborate with writer Cha Hye-won, who created the series “VIP.” The show will be set on a campus of a virtual school, Yeonhee University.
Han, who gained recognition for her role Joo Seok-kyung in “The Penthouse,” will play the newest member Do Hae-yi of the university’s cheerleading squad.
Do is a student in the Class of 2023 who has a gifted appearance and a bright personality. She learns the romance of school life, which was considered a luxury due to her difficult family circumstances by joining the cheerleading squad.
Bae will play the team’s leader Park Jung-woo, who pushes aside his exam preparations and protects the squad from incidents and accidents.
Kim will play the medical student and new member Jin Seon-ho, fromis_9’s Jang Gyu-ri will be vice-captain Tae Cho-hee, and Lee will be Do’s best friend Joo Seon-ja.
