SEOUL, March 24 (Yonhap) -- "We strive for an unconventional charm. Instead of conforming to standards, we prioritize our natural selves." (Ha-eum)
Starship Entertainment's rookie girl group KiiiKiii shared their debut thoughts at a showcase event held on Monday in Yongsan, Seoul, for their first mini-album, "UNCUT GEM."
"We will showcase our hard work and diverse charms, so please look forward to it," they said.
The members expressed their excitement, saying, "We are happy to finally debut after dreaming of this for so long. We want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us."
KiiiKiii is the first girl group launched by Starship Entertainment in three years and three months since IVE in December 2021. The group consists of five members: Jiyu (leader), Isol, Sui, Ha-eum, and Kiya.

Starship described KiiiKiii as a team embodying the motto, "Even in an imperfect reality, let's never lose our sense of fun," and emphasized that each member possesses a unique personality that defies easy definition.
Member Sui explained, "'KiiiKiii' is a name that feels friendly to everyone. It represents our diverse sides and our desire to bring smiles and happiness to our fans."
She also highlighted the group's strengths: "Our strong team chemistry and distinct individual personalities set us apart. We will continue to establish our own unique identity as KiiiKiii."
A month ago, on Feb. 24th, Starship made a bold move by unexpectedly releasing the music video and song for their title track, 'I DO ME,' without any prior teasers. This move also introduced the five members to the public.
'I DO ME' is a pop dance song that captures the mindset of a confident girl who trusts her instincts and lives boldly. The track features dreamy synthesizers, emotional vocal harmonies, and rhythmic beats that make it captivating.
Despite being rookies, KiiiKiii managed to enter Melon's 'Top 100' chart, an impressive feat in the highly competitive spring music season.
Isol described the song's lyrics: "Lines like 'I will be myself' and 'I’ll do even better in my own way' reflect the bold spirit of youth."
Jiyu shared an unforgettable moment: "We performed on a music show stage for the first time, and the fans cheered so loudly. That energy gave us so much strength, and it became an unforgettable memory. We'll keep that feeling close to our hearts as we continue to give our best."
Their debut album, UNCUT GEM, reflects the honesty, quirky charm, and free-spirited nature of these five newcomers as they take their first steps into the music industry.
Jiyu described the album as "a representation of KiiiKiii's unstructured charm and free-spirited image."

The album includes six tracks, including "Debut Song," a track that incorporates the melody of the "Happy Birthday" song to celebrate KiiiKiii’s debut. Also enlisted in the album are "Groundwork," "BTG," "One and Only."
About the new album, Ha-eum shared, "We will be promoting 'BTG' following 'I DO ME.' While 'I DO ME' showcased our natural side, 'BTG' highlights a cooler, edgier version of us."
Sui added, "With 'I DO ME,' we brought joy and smiles to many people. Now, with 'BTG,' we want to impress with powerful performances and confident rapping. We hope people find our diverse styles refreshing and exciting."
