SEOUL November 09 (Yonhap) -- “2022 World Heritage Interpretation Presentation Forum” by Cultural Heritage Association of South Korea and Unesco WHIPIC will take place at the Seosomun Shrine History Museum from November 15 until 16, addressed the association on Wednesday.
WHIPIC is an international Centre for Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites under UNESCO which was established in January 2022 through the agreement between the Korean Government and UNESCO.
The Centre supports the implementation of the World Heritage Convention and the strategies of UNESCO through research, education and training, and information sharing in interpretation and presentation of World Heritage.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention and the establishment of UNESCO International Centre for Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites, the forum will addresses the importance of heritage interpretation that contributes to Sustainable Development.
On the first day of the forum professor Ana Lucia Araujo from Howard University, professor Manuel Gandara and more will participate in a discussion on how heritage interpretation can contribute to the Sustainable Development and actively respond to the challenges the world is faced nowadays.
Throughout the forum Dr. Valerie Magar Unit Manager, Programmes, ICCROM will be presenting her opinion on the interpretation which connects both cultural heritage and natural heritage.
On the second day of the forum, November 16, session will revolve around the subject of “Theoretical Research on Heritage Interpretation and heritage presentation: Concepts and Challenges, the presentation session will share the research outcome of the Centre, focusing on the concept and definition of heritage interpretation and presentation” those who are well known throughout the topic of heritage will participate in discussion throughout the forum.
