SEOUL, April. 21 (Yonhap) -- Suga of the group BTS has released his first official solo album "D-Day" on Friday, according to his agency Big Hit Music.
This album is Suga's first personal work in about three years since the mixtape (non-regular album) "D-2" in May 2020. It is also the finale of a trilogy that follows from the mixtape "August D" released in 2016.
"D-Day" includes the title song "Haegeum" and the collaboration song "People Pt.2" with IU, which was pre-released on the 7th, "D-Day", "HUH?!" featured by BTS member J-Hope, "Polar Night", and "Snooze" with Ryuichi Sakamoto and Kim Woo-sung of The Rose.
Big Hit Music introduced, "Suga melted the message to focus on 'me' and 'now' in an era where too fast and vast information is overflowing."
Suga has showed off his ability as a singer and producer by writing and composing all the songs of the album.
The title song “Haegeum” is a song that uses the sound of Haegeum again following “Daechwita” in 2020. “Haegeum” has been used as two meanings and ambivalent expressions, Korean traditional music instruments and "releasing what is prohibited,” throwing the topic of freedom at people who are bound by various restrictions in daily life and society.
The music video for "Haegeum," which was released together, used tense dramatic elements to create a noir movie-like atmosphere. Suga played two characters in the music video.
Starting with Belmont Park in the U.S. from the 26th to the 27th, Suga is to hold a solo world tour around Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, and Seoul, Korea.
