SEOUL March 17 (Yonhap) -- South Korean creative opera “Termite in desert” literal translation will kick off for the first time ever in Mapo Art Center starting on March 24 until 25.
“Termite in desert” depicts a story of a family member of a pastor who has been living in a old mansion which has been built over 100 years ago, however they find out a herd of termite has been living underneath the house and throughout the opera the storyline showcases the aftermath of the encounter of termites.
The upcoming opera is written by a well known writer Hwang Jung-eun, known for “Nosce” was originally selected as the winner of the competition held by Seoul City Theater in 2018 and was performed in form of play in the past.
Composer Kim Ju-won led the production of opera tracks for the upcoming show and the show was selected as the “New opera of the year” in 2022.
Tenor Kim Ju-wan, soprano singer Seo Yeh-eun, Mezzo Soprano Kim Bo-hye, and more will take the stage and Korean Coop Orchestra and Winner Opera Choir will work along the main performers throughout the upcoming show.
