SEOUL, Mar. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean star chef and restaurateur Paik Jong-won has been geared up to go all across the globe to promote and spread the amazing and original tastes of K-food.
The local cable channel tvN will roll out the very first episode of the brand-new variety show “Business Guru Paik” (literal title) at 7:45 p.m. on Apr. 2.
The new cooking variety show will feature Paik opening up a new restaurant in the barren land of Korean food. It will realistically portray Paik, who has been widely recognized as a restaurant management guru by revitalizing local markets and running franchise businesses in various fields, making a global entry.
In an overseas market where no one knows about him, Paik must captivate them only with his cooking skills. The point to watch is whether Paik, also dubbed the God of Business, can make another success this time overseas.
The specific filming location is yet unveiled, but the upcoming variety show dropped a teaser video where actor Lee Jang-woo and rapper BamBam appeared to be running a street restaurant in Africa. In the meantime, an Italian local media outlet also reported that an 80-year-old pizza restaurant in Napoli was replaced with a Korean restaurant with Paik’s name written on a blackboard standing in front of the restaurant.
The production crew said, “The show begins and will answer the question of whether Paik can make success anywhere by cooking,” adding, “Viewers will be able to check out which strategies will bring success when opening and running a restaurant in a country that is unaware of Korean food, let alone Paik.”
