SEOUL, Feb. 25 (Yonhap) -- The “Life’s Best Spring Restaurant,” a venue that showcases three different major festivals, including the Mime Festival, the Doll Theater Festival, and the Play Festival, has opened at the Chuncheon Doll Theater.
In order to revitalize the local festivals and strengthen the branding of the city, the Chuncheon Cultural Foundation has organized this event for the second time, which will be held from Friday to Sunday.
Chuncheon is the only city in South Korea that has been hosting an array of international performing arts festivals – Chuncheon Mime Festival, Chuncheon Doll Theater Festival, and Chuncheon Play Theater – for more than 30 years.
In order to give more publicity to the city’s years-long festival history, the Chuncheon Cultural Foundation’s Cultural City Center will be showcasing the highlights of the city’s major festivals in one place.
This year’s Spring Restaurant, which commemorated its grand opening with the Spring Restaurant Opening Ceremony on Friday, will carry out various participatory programs planned by the city’s academy along with choir performances from the All Generation Choir Festival, the best moments of the Chuncheon High School Music Festival, and a press conference.
Additionally, any visitor who wears an apron will be rewarded with a 50% discount on admission fees for each performance, and freshmen will be able to watch the exquisite performances free of charge.
The “Spring Market,” which was held prior to the opening ceremony, also garnered the attention of the locals and tourists.
All 10 acts gave a short introduction about themselves prior to their gig so that they can also have an opportunity to catch the attention of performance agencies that visited the event.
An official from the Chuncheon Cultural Foundation said, “Starting with the ‘Life’s Best Spring Restaurant’ event where we showcased three of our major festivals, Chuncheon will strengthen the city’s stature as well as its cultural identity by presenting more unique and alluring content, which we have accumulated for the past 30 years.”
