SEOUL, June 5 (Yonhap) -- Photo exhibitions by legendary photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson and Michael Kenna, famous for "Pine Trees Photographer," will open one after another.

Kate Farm the exhibition organizer, announced on Monday that “Henri Cartier-Bresson The Decisive Moment” will be held at the Seoul Arts Center from June 10th to October 2nd.

This exhibition commemorates the 70th anniversary of the photograph book “The Decisive Moment” by Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004), who is called the "master of photographic aesthetics in the 20th century."

The exhibition introduces the original prints of the “The Decisive Moment” owned by the Cartier-Bresson Foundation, first editions of French and English in 1952, and collections including Leica cameras owned by the author.

The photography book recorded moments of life taken in the United States, India, China, France, and Spain from 1932 to 1952. It also vividly contains historical moments and scenes such as Mahatma Gandhi's funeral and Nazi concentration camps in Dessau, Germany.

The exhibition will also introduce letters and anecdotes exchanged with Henri Matisse, who drew the cover and title of the book.

The K.O.N.G Gallery next to Cheong Wa Dae will hold a photo exhibition of English photographer Michael Kenna's scenery as a special exhibition to commemorate the opening of Cheong Wa Dae from June 21st to August 7th.

It presents more than 60 pictures of famous French palaces, gardens, and the natural scenery of Ukraine undergoing war. A video showing the filming process in Ukraine before the war will also be shown.

The K.O.N.G Gallery said it will donate all of the Ukrainian photos on display.

Kenna played a major role in preserving the pine forest that almost disappeared in 2007 with a photo of Solseom Island in Samcheok, Gangwon Province, and was awarded the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French Government for promoting the beautiful scenery of France to the world.

In addition, an exhibition introducing 38 selected books of the 2021 PhotoBook Awards hosted by the Aperture Foundation and Paris Photo will be held from the 10th to the 24th of next month at the Samcheong Annex of the MoPS in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
