SEOUL, April 29 (Yonhap) -- CJ Olive Young said Wednesday it will hold a large-scale collaboration event with Pokemon from May 1 to 30, combining products, spaces and experiential content.

The event, titled “Olive Young X Pokemon,” will be held in conjunction with the “Pokemon Mega Festa 2026,” marking the franchise’s 30th anniversary. It will center on the retailer’s flagship store, Olive Young N Seongsu.

In partnership with the augmented reality game Pokemon GO, the company will run a “Pokemon GO Seoul Stamp Rally,” encouraging visitors to collect stamps by visiting key festival locations and three designated spots at the Seongsu store.

The store will be transformed into a pop-up and exhibition space themed around a “30th anniversary party” for Pokemon.

At 13 major stores nationwide, Olive Young will set up Pokemon photo zones and machines that print themed messages on receipts. Customers will also receive Pokemon-themed gifts depending on their purchase amount.

The company has developed exclusive designs featuring Smoliv, a Pokemon resembling Olive Young’s symbolic olive, applying them to shopping bags, displays and store exteriors. Pokemon theme songs and collaboration tracks with K-pop artists will be played in stores.

A total of 61 brands will participate in the collaboration, the largest number ever for the retailer. This is an increase of 29 brands compared with its previous collaboration with Sanrio Characters in July last year.

Olive Young said the earlier collaboration helped boost foreign sales by 60 percent, reflecting high satisfaction among participating brands.

Around 230 products across beauty, wellness and lifestyle categories will be offered through special promotions and discounts.

An Olive Young official said the collaboration between globally popular K-beauty and Pokemon is expected to provide a unique experience for both domestic and international customers.
