SEOUL, Oct. 10 (Yonhap) -- Veteran actor Lee Soon-jae (89) has canceled his performances and scheduled lectures due to health issues.

The production company Park Company announced on the 10th via social media that today’s performance of the play ‘Waiting for Godot’ has been canceled due to the health of the lead actor, Lee Soon-jae.

The production explained, "Although the teacher (Lee Soon-jae) expressed a strong desire to stand on stage to keep his lifelong belief in honoring his commitment to the audience, he ultimately decided to cancel the performance based on the strong recommendation of his doctor for rest."

This play, which opened last month, is a comedic homage to ‘Waiting for Godot’, where Lee Soon-jae plays the lead role of Estragon.

Additionally, the masterclass lecture titled ‘70 Years of Acting Philosophy,’ scheduled for the 12th, has also been indefinitely postponed. In this event, Lee Soon-jae was to discuss the attitudes and acting philosophy that aspiring child and youth actors should possess.

The organizer, the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service, stated, "We plan to hold the event once actor Lee Soon-jae has recovered his health."

Born in 1935, Lee Soon-jae has remained active in recent years, even taking on the lead role in the drama ‘Dog Knows Everything’ despite approaching his nineties.
