JEJU, March 6 (Yonhap) -- The Jeju Tourism Organization announced on Friday that it will operate a pet-friendly running program during the “Sono Run Trip 180K in Jeju” event, which will take place on June 28 and 29 at Sono Calm Jeju and along Jeju Olle Trail Route 4 in Seogwipo.

Hosted by Sono International, Sono Run Trip 180K is a project that combines accommodation, running, and local tourism experiences.

The pet-friendly running program was designed to reflect growing travel trends in Jeju, particularly the increasing popularity of running trips and pet-inclusive travel.

On the first day, a festival will be held for participants and their pets, featuring pet behavior training lectures, the Sono Pet sports day, and live performances.

The running program will take place at 9 a.m. on the second day, and participants can choose between two courses depending on their pace and preference.

The main running course is a 13 km route along Jeju’s coastline.

The pet-friendly course is a 6 km run where participants can run with their dogs and family members.

Applications for the event can be submitted through the Sono Hotels & Resorts website.

A representative from the Jeju Tourism Organization said the pet-friendly running program represents a model of sustainable, experience-based tourism that Jeju aims to promote, adding that the organization will continue to work with private companies to develop distinctive tourism content unique to the island.
