SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Yonhap) – The musical "The Phantom of the Opera" (produced by S&Co.) is officially coming back to Korea in 13 years in the upcoming March at Dream Theater, Busan.

The Korean version of this renowned piece was performed only twice until now, the first performance in 2001 and the second in 2009. Other than the two, only musicals performed by the original international cast were available to the national audience.

The local performance culture community is welcoming the renewal with excitement and anticipation.

In response, S&Co. has released the musical cast posters of the 7 actors who will be performing the role of The Phantom of the Opera, Christine Daaé, and Viscount Raoul de Chagny, on Wednesday.

Actor Cho Seung-woo, Julian Kim, and Dong-suk Jeon will be performing the role of the Phantom; Actress Sohn Ji-soo and Song Eun-hye will be performing the role of Christine; and Actor Song Won-geun and Hwang Gun-ha will be performing the role of Raoul. The posters showed a shattered mirror, flower, and candle as symbols characterizing each character.

The preview of the musical will be held in Busan on Mar. 25 - Mar. 29.

Ticket booking for the preview will be opened on Jan. 17 at 2 P.M., and the first series of performing dates (Mar. 30 - Apr. 16) will be opened for booking on Feb. 7 at 2 P.M.

The official ticket reservation platforms are Dream Theater, Interpark, YES24, 11st Ticket, ticket office, and Paybooc.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's “The Phantom of the Opera” is yet widely considered one of the most beautiful and spectacular productions in history. The acclaimed musical tells a tragic love story of a disfigured musical genius, phantom, who haunts the Paris Opera House, along with a young singer Christine whom he falls in love, and viscount Raoul, who also adores Christine.

The musical has been performed worldwide in 17 languages, in 188 cities, and to 145 million audiences. A total of 70 major awards, including seven Tony Awards and four Olivier Awards, also recognized how spectacular and successful the work has been.

“The Phantom of the Opera” will now continue its legacy by performing in Busan in March, which will be followed by performances in Seoul in July.
