SEOUL, Jan. 17 (Yonhap) -- YG Entertainment has announced on Friday its decision to exit the actor management business and restructure its operations to focus primarily on its core music business.

YG stated, “In order to concentrate on our primary field of music, we are undertaking a business structure reorganization, which includes ceasing actor management services.”

The company previously managed prominent actors such as Cha Seung-won, Choi Ji-woo, Kang Dong-won, Lee Jong-suk, and Kim Hee-ae.

As part of its gradual restructuring efforts, YG sold its stake in Studio Plex, a subsidiary responsible for producing dramas such as Mr. Queen, last year. Additionally, in August 2024, YG dissolved its dance management and academy label YGX, integrating its functions into a newly established Global Training Center within the company.

For 2025, YG plans to focus on its music ventures, including a highly anticipated comeback for girl group BLACKPINK and launching BabyMonster's debut world tour.

YG commented, “We have consistently worked on restructuring to focus on our core operations, and 2025 will mark the beginning of those efforts coming to fruition.” The company added, “We aim to further strengthen our core competencies, solidify our leadership in the music industry, and write the next chapter of YG’s growth story.”
