SEOUL, March 29 (Yonhap) -- Sinan County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that the '2022 Island Tulip Festival' which was scheduled to be held from April 8th till the 17th will be cancelled.

The tulip festival has been cancelled for three consecutive years from 2020, when the first case of COVID-19 has been confirmed.

Initially, the festival was planning to be held in a smaller scale by mainly basing it on exhibition. However, with the recent spread of the omicron variant, and as the government guidelines recommended cancelling the Spring Flower Festival, the festival has been cancelled for the safety of the citizens and tourists.

Beginning from 2008, the Tulip Festival held every April, offered a prunus mume garden, carnation camellia garden, sasanqua camellia forest along with a million tulips.

Nearby, there is also the Daegwang Beach, which received the Blue Flag international certification in 2021, and the Jo Hui-ryong Art Museum, making it a representative Spring Flower Festival in Sinan County.
