SEOUL, Sept. 5 (Yonhap) -- Kim Yong-hyeon (45), the choreographer behind hit dance routines for Brown Eyed Girls' so-called "Arrogant Dance," KARA's "Butt Dance," and others, has passed away.
According to the music industry on the 5th, Kim Yong-hyeon passed away on the 3rd, and his funeral was held this morning. The exact cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Kim was known for creating choreography for hits such as Brown Eyed Girls' "Abracadabra," KARA's "Mister," and T-ara's "Bo Peep Bo Peep." He worked with DOHC, YAMA, and With Us Dance Teams before becoming the CEO of With Us Company. He also ran a personal vlog and YouTube channel, and was involved in the clothing business.
In 2014, he created cheerleading choreography for the 2014 Brazil World Cup on MBC TV's flagship variety show "Infinity Challenge."
The news of his passing has prompted messages of mourning from the music industry.
Singer Kahi expressed her grief on social media, saying, "Hearing this news suddenly is heartbreaking. You were such a beautiful, young, and talented dancer. It’s so sad and tragic. You know how much I love 'It's Me' (a song Kim choreographed), right? And how much it hurts as well? Thank you for being with me."
Gilgun also paid tribute on social media, saying, "I'm sorry and grateful, my friend. Watching you smile until the end, I felt like I could still hear your laughter. Watch over us from there, and when we meet again, let’s dance together."
