'NewYear's Concert' at Seoul Art Center to feature musical actor Kim Junsu

SEOUL January 3 (Yonhap) -- To Celebrate the year of rabbit, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be hosting a “2023 New Year’s Concert” at the Concert Hall of Seoul Art Center on January 4 at 7 p.m.

“2023 New Year’s Concert” will be held with over 2000 audiences at the scene in three years since the COVID 19 hit the world. Due to the pandemic, the New Years concert was broadcasted through online without any attended audiences in 2021 and 2020.

To kick off the concert a young Chanter Lee Hwi-moon and Bae Il-dong who has worked very hard to advertise and to inform foreign people of our traditional sounds will take the stage. Bae Il-dong will perform pansori “return of Shim Bong-sa’s vision” out of “Shim Chung ga” and “Lee Hwi-moon will perform “Jeokbyeokga.”

South Korean singer Yoon Hyung-ju will perform “Our Story,” “Beautiful Person,” “Two Little Stars,” and number of tracks loved throughout the years.

Moreover, musical actor Kim Do Hyung, Kim Junsu also known as Xia, musical actress Kim So-hyun, Kim Bo-kyung will perform some of the well known tracks from the musical “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Mozart!,” “Dracula,” and more

KBS symphony orchestra lead by conductor Choi Young-sun will be in charge of the music. KBS symphony orchestra will kick off the second half of the concert with two of the tracks from composer Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka’s “Ruslan and Ludmila.”

Throughout the second half of the concert, South Korean soprano singer Jo Su-mi will perform various tracks. She will perform “Dein Ist Mein Ganzes Herz,” from Franz Lehar’s operetta, “Das Land Des Lachelns,” Albinoni and Giazotto’s “Adagio” and various tracks. Jo Su-mi will continue on with her performance by showcasing the “Sound of Music” medley and end her performance with the track “Champion” used during 2002 world cup.

The concert will be broadcasted live through NaverTV, YouTube channel of Seoul Art Center, KBS my K and more. Also the concert will be broadcasted through KBS 1Tv’s “Open Conert” on Januart 14 at 3:20 p.m.
