SEOUL, September 18 (Yonhap) -- The MBC Friday, Saturday drama "Big Mouth," which brought the highest tense with a plot twist or over another, ended with a viewing rate of 13%.
The last episode of the drama "Big Mouth," which aired on September 17, at 9:50 p.m., recorded a 13.7% view rate, the highest rate, according to Nielson Korea on Sunday.
In the last episode, Park Chang-ho (played by Lee Jong-seok) won by punishing Choi Do-ha (Kim Joo-ha), who got to the center of power in his own way after a long fight.
At a TV debate fighting over the position of mayor of Gucheon, Park Chang-ho's wife, Gu Mi-ho (Lim Yoona), revealed that NK Chemical had been leaking radioactive wastewater for decades, and Choi Do-ha was behind it. In the process of digging into the truth, she said that she herself was also exposed to radiation and was diagnosed as terminally ill and is currently fighting against the disease.
Choi Do-ha stood in the court but was released due to lack of evidence, and Gu Mi-ho died, as her disease worsened. Park Chang-ho, with dogged determination, filled up Choi Do-ha's swimming pool with radioactive waste, and Choi Do-ha died, vomiting blood.
The drama "Big Mouth" depicts the story of a lawyer who gets thrown into jail under the suspicion of being the "Big Mouth" and fights to get to the center of power from jail.
At the beginning of the drama, it held the attention of the audience by looking for the hidden Big Mouth, thus unfolding the plots. Also, it brought up tense scenes like violence and power struggles in the jail, and the Big Mouth trying to use Park Chang-ho as a horse on the chessboard.
Park Chang-ho and Gu Mi-ho, who were ordinary citizens of the lawless city of Gucheon-si, created by the chaebol (rich family) family's power, showed unexpected fights in their respective positions, bringing victory to a nearly impossible fight.
The unique characters created by leading actors such as Lee Jong-suk, Lim Yoona, Kim Joo-heon, and Yang Kyung-won, and supporting actors such as Kwak Dong-yeon, Jung Jae-sung, Kim Jung-hyun, Lee Yoo-joon, Yoon Seok-hyun, and Jang Hyuk-jin, raise the sense of immersion in the drama.
However, as the drama gained a lot of popularity, different opinions were formed over the ending of thr drama.
Some of the audience say that the sudden death of Big Mouth and the setting of Ku Mi-ho becoming terminally ill was cliche, and that the ending was brought in a hurry by killing Choi Do-ha in ease, who had been avoiding the law throughout the drama.
The SBS Friday,Saturday drama "Today's Webtoon," which aired its last episode at 10 p.m. on September 17, ended with a disappointing 1.6% view rate.
The drama "Today's Webtoon" depicts the growth of the character named Onmaum, a new webtoon editor who was a judo player. The view rate of the drama continued to fall after it recorded their highest view rate on the first episode with 4.1%.
Kim Se-jeong's bright and lively energy as the main character Onmaum filled the drama, but it did not gain much popularity from the audience as it was similar to the SBS drama "Business Proposal," which ended four months ago.
