SEOUL, May 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korean singer-songwriter IU will release a reinterpretation of the iconic rock ballad “Never Ending Story” by the legendary band Boohwal.
Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced Wednesday that the remake will be featured on IU’s upcoming album Flower Bookmark 3, set for release at 6 p.m. on May 27.
The six-track remake album also includes her renditions of classics such as “The Beauty” (Mi-in) by Shin Joong Hyun & Yup Juns, “October 4th” by Seo Taiji, “Red Shoes” by Park Hye-kyung, “Last Scene” by the band Roller Coaster, and “Square’s Dream” (Nemo-ui Kkum) by the band White.
To promote the album, IU launched an interactive ARS (automated response system) phone event, where fans can dial in to hear a recorded message in her voice and previews of the tracks. According to her agency, the event received 15,000 calls within the first hour of launch and surpassed 100,000 calls in the first 12 hours, leading to temporary connection issues due to high call volume.
This marks IU’s first remake album in nearly eight years. She previously released Flower Bookmark in 2014 and its follow-up Flower Bookmark 2 in 2017.
