SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Yonhap) -- Son Heung-min (29·Tottenham Hotspur) was named one of the top 11 players in the first half of 2021-2022 EPL, by the sports media ESPN.

ESPN released the Premier League midseason awards and introduced the top players on Dec. 31 (KST).

In the 2021/22 Premier League season, which began in August, teams have now played half of their 38 matches despite the postponements due to COVID-19.

Son played in 16 league games this season, leading Tottenham with 2 assists and 8 goals.

The sports media selected top players according to their positions and chose Son as the top left-winger. Salah, who took the league lead with 15 goals and 9 assists, was picked as the top-right winger.

ESPN said while Salah was easily selected, Son Heung-min’s spot in the top 11 was up for debate because of players Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace).

The broadcast evaluated Son saying, “He remains one of the most accurate finishers in the world, and he's one of the best at receiving progressive passes as well.”

In addition, the top centre-forward was Diogo Jota (Liverpool), the top central midfielder was Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) and Conor Gallagher (Crystal Palace), and the top defensive midfielder was Rodri (Manchester City).

Cancelo (Manchester City) was the best left-back and Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) was chosen as the best right-back. The top centre-backs were Thiago Silva (Chelsea) and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), and the best goalkeeper was Jose Sa (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

Salah (Liverpool) was chosen as the best player of the first half of 2021-2022 and David Moyes, in West Ham United, ranked the No.1 manager of the season.
