SEOUL, Sept. 12 (Yonhap) -- CJ 4DPLEX, a subsidiary of CJ CGV that operates special theaters such as ScreenX and 4DX, has set new records for its performance in August, following a similar achievement in July.

On September 12, CJ CGV reported that CJ 4DPLEX saw its highest-ever August box office revenue, reaching $43.3 million, a 20% increase from the previous August's $36.1 million.

The success was driven by the popularity of Hollywood blockbusters like Deadpool and Wolverine, Alien: Romulus, and Twisters, which attracted large audiences to the special theaters. Additionally, K-pop concert films, including BLACKPINK: The World Tour [BORN PINK] in Your Area and I'm Hero: The Stadium featuring singer Lim Young-woong, also contributed significantly to the increased viewership in special formats.

CJ 4DPLEX had already set a record in July with $49 million in revenue, and with these continued successes, CJ CGV anticipates the company’s third-quarter performance will hit an all-time high.
