'Jecheon International Music and Film Festival' ends in success

SEOUL, August 17 (Yonhap) -- 18th of its kind, "Jecheon International Music and Film Festival" successfully finished its 6 days of festivity and closed on August 16.

The closing ceremony was lead by S.Korean actor Kang Jun-kyu and Oh Ha nee at the Uirimji Stage. Throughout the ceremony American producer Rita Baghdadi’s “Sirens” received “International Grand Prize” and was honored of being the closing film of the festival.

“Sirens” is a movie unfolds the complicated societal issues of Lebanon through coming of age, loyalty, friendship, sex, identity and personal life of protagonists who tries to become the next big band. The film received positive feedback for well reflecting problems Lebanon faces.

Director Gwon Churl’s “Withstanding and Existing” was awarded “Korean Best Feature” and Director Jo Hayoung’s “Remember Our Sister” received “Korean Best Short” throughout the festival.

Director Ueom Ha-neul’s “Five Minutes between you and I” and director Kim Tae-hee’s “Looking For” were selected as the winner for the supporting project “Jecheon Music Film Project Promotion 2022.”

The chairman of the "Jecheon International Music Film Festival," Kim Chang-kyu, the major of Jecheon city stated “Through heavy rain and re-spread of COVID 19 "Jecheon International Music and Film Festival" managed to end in big success.” adding “We promise to revise and upgrade out programs to present you guys with Asia’s finest music film festival.” during the closing ceremony of the festival.

“A Tempo” the slogan of 18th "Jecheon International Music Film Festival" has an embedded meaning of recovered economy from COVID 19 so that we can enjoy the festive mood. Total of 139 movies from 39 different countries were screened throughout the festival.

Festive events such as “One Summer Night” and more programs returned after 3 long years of waiting due to regulations regarding the mass spread of COVID 19 a lot of participants showed positive response.
