National Museum of Korea to hold lecture on 'Civilization of Mesopotamia'

SEOUL, November 15 (Yonhap) -- The National Museum of Korea will be holding a lecture under the theme of "Cultural Innovation and Art of Mesopotamian Civilization" at the small auditorium, 
 
It is an event linked to the newly built Mesopotamia exhibition in the world culture section located on the third floor of the permanent exhibition hall. 
 
The lecture, starting at 10 a.m., will be led by Yang Jeong-mu, a professor at the Korea National University of Arts, with the theme "Hometown of Civilization: The Art of Mesopotamia" and explain the characteristics of Mesopotamian arts.
 
Next up will be Kim Benzel, Associate Curator in the Department of Ancient Near Eastern Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She will discuss the accessories excavated from the royal tombs and how those led to the identity and world view of the Mesopotamian. 
 
The lecture is open to the public and requires no prior registration.
