SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- Sibling duo AKMU has surpassed 2.5 billion cumulative streams on local music platform Melon with songs released throughout their career, following the release of their fourth full-length album "Blooming" on April 7.
Melon said Tuesday, citing its music big data analysis service Data Lab, that AKMU recorded a total of 2.53617 billion streams over 12 years since its debut in 2014, the highest figure among co-ed groups.
A total of seven AKMU songs have surpassed 100 million streams each, a feat achieved by only 17 artists registered on the platform.
"How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love" recorded 448.39 million streams, followed by "Last Goodbye" with 179.92 million, "200%" with 145.07 million, "NAKKA" with 115.22 million, "Give Love" with 115.19 million, "DINOSAUR" with 108.53 million, and "Love Lee" with 102.3 million.
"How can I love the heartbreak, you're the one I love" also stayed on Melon’s daily chart for 1,046 consecutive days, ranking 15th in the platform’s all-time longest charting records. The song drew attention after being recommended by Nobel Prize-winning author Han Kang and remained on the annual chart for seven consecutive years.
The track has accumulated 494,000 “likes,” the second-highest total on Melon after BTS’ hit "Spring Day."
Melon said AKMU has achieved both commercial success and critical acclaim, adding that the two members have also demonstrated their strengths through individual activities.
