SEOUL, May 11 (Yonhap) -- Lucas of K-pop boy group NCT will leave the group and pursue solo activities, his agency said on Thursday, amid controversies surrounding the artist’s personal life.
"Lucas has decided to leave NCT and WayV, the Chinese unit of NCT, to continue his individual activities. This decision was made considering the members and the fans,“ Lucas’ management SM Entertainment said in a statement. "Lucas plans to actively engage in various activities as a solo artist,” it added.
Lucas faced controversies in 2021 regarding inappropriate personal behavior, including allegations of demanding money from his former girlfriend. The woman claimed through social media that she was asked to pay for hotel expenses and cigarettes, and she also accused Lucas of gaslighting.
In response, Lucas said he sincerely apologize to those who were hurt by his misconduct upon suspending his planned activities at that time.
