SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Park Jin, regarding the controversy that someone who claims himself to be a member of foreign ministry officials attempted to sell a hat worn by BTS' Jungkook at a high price, said they are "currently under investigation within the department" on Monday.

Park replied as such when Lee Jae-jung, a National Assembly member of the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea, asked related question at a parliamentary audit of Foreign Affairs and unification committee and added, "We will fairly deal with related regulations if such report confirms to be true."

However, he also said, "Further details cannot be said here since it is a personal information."

To the question 'Is the investigation ongoing with someone specific as the suspect' by Lee, he replied, "Yes, We are under investigation within the department."

Lawmaker Lee also ponted out that since the lost property was not reported to the police, embezzlement of lost ariticle can be charged against the suspect.

Meanwhile, a netizen who claimed himself to diplomatic personnel uploaded a post with the title 'Sale of a hat worn by BTS' Jungkook' on used trading site on Oct. 17, claiming that he is selling the hat the member left when he visited Foriegn ministry to make a passport at 10,000,000 won.

At the time, the netizen said, "I have gained the ownership of this hat after no call or visit was made for six months after I filed a lost item report," but no such report is known to be made to the police.

When the controversty spiraled out of control, the post was deleted. The netizen also claimed that he had already left the work as the foreign ministry officials when some threatened to report him to the police.
