SEOUL, Apr. 8 (Yonhap) -- K-pop star BoA has apologized on Tuesday amid spreading criticism over her behavior during the social media live broadcast last week conducted while drinking with television personality Jun Hyun-moo.

According to the music industry, BoA addressed the controversy via the fan platform Weverse late Sunday night, saying, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable due to my careless words and immature behavior during the SNS live broadcast on April 5.”

During the livestream, BoA appeared visibly intoxicated and was seen leaning on Jun Hyun-moo’s shoulder in a relaxed, informal manner. The situation drew further backlash when she responded to a viewer’s question regarding dating rumors between Jun and comedian Park Na-rae, saying, “I don’t think they’ll date. Oppa (Jun) is too good for her,” a remark that was criticized for being disrespectful.

“I personally apologized to Park Na-rae for making an inappropriate comment about her in her absence,” BoA continued. “I’m thankful that she accepted it with understanding. I also deeply apologize to my fans, who have supported me for so long, for letting them down.”

She concluded by saying, “This has been a moment of reflection. Going forward, I will strive to be more mindful of the weight my words and actions carry, and present myself in a more mature manner.”

The incident sparked discussions online over celebrity conduct during livestreams, particularly when under the influence of alcohol.
