SEOUL, July 19 (Yonhap) -- Singer and composer Yoo Hee-yol, who was recently involved in a plagiarism controversy over his song, is leaving KBS 2TV music program “Yoo Hee-yeol’s sketchbook,” after 13 years.

Yoo Hee-yeol said on Monday, “’Yoo Hee-yeol’s sketchbook will end with episode of 600,” adding, “I sincerely thank everyone who loved our show for a long time of 13 years and 3 months.”

Yoo Hee-yeol has been hosting “Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook” since April 2009, and episode 600 is scheduled to be on air this week, July 22.

He said “To minimize the damage to the program and the crew, this week will be my last,” adding, “I will do my best to fulfill my remaining responsibilities to not cause any further damage.”

The controversy over his plagiarism was raised when his song on the project album “Life Music,” scheduled to be released last month, was similar to the song of Ryuichi Sakamoto. His previous composed songs including “Happy Birthday to You” by Sung Si-kyung are also under similar controversy.

The composer is not fully agreeing with all the allegations of plagiarism that have been raised so far.

He said, “I cannot fully agree with the allegations that have been raised,” adding, “ many allegations that have been raised are one’s own interpretations and opinions, and it is difficult for me to accept them all.”

He continued, “But I will be stricter on myself to never raise such controversies again.”

The composer said, “These past situations have made me look back on myself,” adding, “ Sayings that their past times have been denied hurt me the most. I cannot imagine how great the sense of loss would be. ”
He went on, “I will take time to think about where I am at and what are my left responsibilities and not disregard them,” adding, “I sincerely apologize once again for making those who love music worry.”
