SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) -- Woozi of K-pop boy group Seventeen began his mandatory military service on Monday, his agency said.

According to Pledis Entertainment, Woozi entered a military recruit training center earlier in the day to receive basic training before serving as an active-duty Army soldier.

The previous day, Woozi appeared at Seventeen's "New_" world tour concert at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium with his hair cut short, cheering for his bandmates from the audience.

"It was the first time I watched the members and Carats (the group's fandom) smiling to the music I made from outside the stage. That made me quite happy," he wrote later on fan platform Weverse. "I am entering (the Army) with strength and will return in good health."

Seventeen currently has members Jeonghan and Wonwoo serving in the military. Following Woozi, member Hoshi is scheduled to enlist as an active-duty soldier Tuesday.
