SEOUL, June 20 (Yonhap) -- Singer and actor Kim Jaejoong attended a ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Japan, held in Tokyo on Thursday, according to his agency, iNKODE Entertainment, on Friday.

The event, hosted by the Korean Embassy in Japan, was attended by around 800 people, including Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and other figures from both countries.

Kim Jaejoong, along with Hitomi and Mei, Japanese members of the girl group Say My Name, attended the event and delivered remarks to commemorate the 60th anniversary.

"Sixty is a number that symbolizes the completion of a cycle in Eastern philosophy," Kim said. "This moment is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the journey our two countries have taken and to prepare for a new future."

He added, "Music and culture are strong bridges that connect people’s hearts beyond language and borders. I hope that our two countries continue to understand and respect each other's cultures deeply and that especially the younger generations communicate, share dreams, and shape a shared tomorrow."

Kim Jaejoong debuted in 2003 as a member of the group TVXQ and has been actively performing in both Korea and Japan. He is currently meeting fans through his Asia tour titled "Beauty in Chaos" as a solo artist.
