SEOUL, March 17 (Yonhap) -- A K-beauty product has gone viral following South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and first lady Kim Hye-kyung bought it at a traditional market in southeastern South Korea in a weekend shopping spree.

The presidential couple bought several cosmetics while visiting Bansong Market in the Seongsan District of Changwon on Sunday after attending a ceremony marking the 66th anniversary of the March 15 Uprising at the National March 15th Democracy Cemetery.

While browsing a cosmetics shop at the market, the couple looked at a variety of K-beauty products on display. Kim, known to have a keen interest in K-beauty, led the browsing and purchase process.

Among the items they bought was "The Face Shop Soft Peeling Spray," a body scrub product from LG Household & Health Care’s cosmetics brand The Face Shop.

The spray-type body scrub can be lightly sprayed on the skin, except for the face, and gently rubbed to remove dead skin cells. The product has gained popularity by word of mouth for its convenience in exfoliating old skin and grime.

It contains three grain-based ingredients — mung beans, black soybeans and rice — known for being gentle on the skin while providing moisturizing effects.

While purchasing the product, Lee commented, “When you use it on the body, the grime comes off well.”

Kim added, “You don’t even need an exfoliating towel — so much dead skin comes off,” expressing anticipation about the product.

The couple also purchased "Dr. Belmeur Ampoule Mask Cica Peptide," along with nail remover and cotton pads. Dr. Belmeur is a dermacosmetic brand operated by LG Household & Health Care.
