SEOUL, Sept.22 (Yonhap) -- Mnet's dance competition show of male dancers, "Street Man Fighter" (SMF) is drawing attention.

According to the CJ ENM's CPI·Content Power Index for the second week of Sept. (Sept. 5-11), Mnet's "SMF" ranked first. CPI index was 396.8, far higher than the second place "Little Women." (292.4)

"SMF" is the male version of Mnet's "Street Woman Fighter" (SWF), which brought dance craze last year, and was highly anticipated even before it aired.

The first episode of "SMF" recorded 1.3%, higher than the first episode of "SWF" (0.8%), and on social media, a dance challenge that imitates the choreography created by the cast and video clips of the dancers are drawing attention.

Zico's "New Thing" choreographed by the leader of the dance crew WE DEM BOYZ VATA is trending as BTS' V, and NCT's Jisung, ITZY's Yeji and Ryujin, and more participated in its dance challenge.

Although it is attracting lots of attention on on the Internet and social media with the choreography and dancers' brilliant performances, viewer's reaction and viewership ratings are relatively disappointing.

"SWF" started with a rating of 0% but continued to rise, recording 2.6% in the fourth episode. Butt "SMF" is staying in the 1% range, and its highest rating is 1.9% (Episode. 4).

Some point out that the "SMF" is more provocative than necessary.

New elements such as making the defeated team to be backup dancers of winning team and making a mass of opponent crew's waiting room are added, while slang or curse words by cast members appear frequently with the "beep" sound.

Kwon Young Chang producer was also criticized for making sexist remark at a press conference, which took place it aired.

Kwon received storm of criticism for making "out of trend sexist remark when he said,"If female fighters were full of jealousy and greed, you can see loyalty and pride from male dancers." Some said to boycott the program.

☞ The CPI measures the consumer behavior of dramas, entertainment, music, and infotainment programs on 29 channels including terrestrial networks and cable channels, during prime time. Through RACOI, program-related viewer data (video views, posts, and comments) are collected every week and converted into a standard score based on 200 points to calculate an average.
